“It works on my machine” captures a familiar deployment problem: moving the code does not necessarily reproduce the environment it needs. Containers address that problem; operating applications across machines introduces others.
In Cloud Native: A Practical Introduction for Engineers, I follow that history and explain how containers, runtimes, Kubernetes, GitOps and observability fit together.
A small orders API ties the concepts together. The hands-on section walks through building its image, deploying it to a local Kubernetes cluster, scaling to three replicas and observing Pod replacement.
