I've spent the last year thinking, with growing concern, that my current company is some sort of scam. They're owned by private equity and behave in a very anti-consumer and anti-employee way. The quality of their product has deteriorated greatly, yet senior management show no signs of caring. There appears to be a plan in motion that negates all of this. Their 'technical issues' cause problems with payment providers constantly, to the point where Stripe and Mastercard may block them.
Today I figured out that they have been hiring Mormons solely for senior leadership roles. The last few new hires have been deeply unqualified for the roles but all have the Church of LDS in common. Would you hire people with degrees outside of tech for senior IT and engineering roles? Only if there were part of your specific cult. Most roles they don't even advertise, just some new dude shows up one day. And has ties with existing management. The few jobs they do post, which may be a legality, show the location as Salt Lake city even though we have no office there. Seems to be a way to target a specific type of person.
Not sure what to do with this. Are they doing anything illegal? Likely not, but I question their practices. Are they so inept and uncaring that they are a nightmare to do business with or work for? Yes.
On the plus side, it's all falling apart for them. We'll all be out of jobs soon enough. Thoughts?
