Google's October 2026 AI recap, posted on 2 November, bundles several releases. Three of them matter to companies that automate sales, support or operations.

Gemini 4 Argon is out

Google describes Argon as a frontier reasoning model. After early safety testing it went out globally for complex coding, financial analysis and legal work. It can be reached through Google AI Studio, the Gemini API and Google Cloud, and it also sits behind Search and the Gemini app. A robotics variant, Gemini 4 Argon for Robotics, handles reasoning about the physical world.

The post names the target tasks but publishes no benchmarks, prices or rate limits. Anyone considering a switch needs to get those elsewhere and test on their own data.

Gemini 4 Carbon is not generally available

About two weeks after Argon, Google announced Carbon, which it calls its strongest model so far for long-horizon engineering work and cybersecurity defense. It is in pre-release testing with the U.S. government and a limited group of trusted cyber defenders through the Fairwind Program. Google says a wider launch to developers, businesses and consumers will follow while it refines safety guardrails and adds partners. No date is given.

EmbeddingGemma 2 for private search

The new open embedding model is built on the Gemma 4 architecture and has 740 million parameters. It places code, images, video and audio in one shared vector space and is designed to run on ordinary devices. Its modular design reduces local vector storage by up to 6x, according to Google. The examples given are finding a video clip from a voice memo and searching hours of audio with a text query, both in offline apps.

Smaller items

  • Android users can build personal AI apps in Google AI Studio and install them from Google Play.
  • SynthID Detector, which checks whether an image, video or audio clip was made with AI, is expanding globally in English. Google says it also recognizes content from partners including OpenAI, NVIDIA, Kakao and Apple.
  • Genie 4, a real-time interactive world simulation model, was introduced; Google positions it for training robots and AI agents.

The rest of the recap covers a fitness tracker, medical research, quantum computing and a satellite test, none of which affects business automation.
