I have used OpenCode for more than 1.5 years
I started using OpenCode when it had older models like big pickle, mimo v2.5 and stuff like that. Compared to what we have today those were not great, but it worked and it was free, so I stayed.
It was my main tool. I just typed opencode in terminal and coded.
What changed after the last update
After the token limit update in September, OpenCode is not really usable for me right now.
It does not matter if I use deepseek-v4.1 flash, GLM-5.3 flash or mimo-v2.6 flash, I hit the free limit every 2 hours. Sometimes faster.
One task uses like 20 to 30 requests because every tool call counts, so 200 requests per day goes in one session.
What I am doing now
Right now I am switching between a few tools - Cline, freebuff and opencode. I was comfortable with opencode and also, jumping between tools is kind of annoying.
But I do not have money to buy any plan, even if it is cheap. So Go or Go Plus is not an option for me.
Question for you
Do you know some other free tools I can use that do not hit limit this fast?
If you are using something free that works for daily coding with OpenCode, Cline or similar, let me know. I am looking for something that is actually free and does not need a card.
Thanks for reading.
