Disclosure: I post on behalf of The Right Life, a residential township on Sarjapur Road, Bengaluru.

If you work in tech in Bengaluru, your commute is part of your working day. Picking a home near an IT park looks simple on a map, but a few checks decide whether it actually works for you.

1. Measure the commute at your real hours

A route that takes 20 minutes at noon can take far longer at 9 AM. Test it on a weekday, at the time you would actually travel, before you decide.

2. Look at what is around the home, not just the office

Schools, hospitals, groceries and green space matter once the workday ends. For families, safe walkable areas and nearby schools often count for more than a shorter drive.

3. Check how the community is planned

Gated townships with internal roads, play areas and shared amenities save daily errands and keep children safe. Ask how much of the land is open space and how traffic inside the community is managed.

4. Verify the legal basics

Confirm RERA registration and the builder's delivery record before you pay anything.

5. Think beyond the next job

Teams relocate and hybrid schedules change. A location with several employment hubs within reach is a safer bet than one tied to a single office.
