The Security Gap in Autonomous LLM Agent Pipelines
When autonomous AI agents ingest untrusted web pages, emails, or user inputs, two critical failure modes occur before the payload ever reaches the model:
- Indirect Prompt Injection & Jailbreaks: Hidden instructions (
Ignore previous instructions..., delimiter escapes<|im_start|>, or tool exfiltration URLs) hijack agent tool calls. - Sensitive PII & Credential Leakage: Raw SSNs, credit card numbers, emails, and
sk-.../ghp_...API keys get logged into third-party LLM context windows.
Running heavy Python guardrails adds 300–800ms of latency. By moving prompt inspection and PII redaction to Cloudflare Workers, we can sanitize agent inputs in under 20ms at the network edge.
Deterministic Multi-Rule Injection Scoring & PII Redaction
Our edge worker evaluates weighted regex AST rules for system-override patterns, delimiter escapes, and exfiltration webhooks while simultaneously masking sensitive PII tokens before forwarding to the LLM:
