If you build login flows, you know the pain: testing signup means burning through email addresses. Use your real one and your inbox becomes a graveyard of OTP codes. Spin up aliases and you still have to manage them. There's a simpler tool for the job: a disposable email inbox.

When I test a registration flow, I open TempFreeMail (https://tempfreemail.com/) in a second tab. One click gives me a fresh address — no signup, no account, no waiting. I paste it into the form I'm testing, and the verification email lands in the temporary inbox instantly. I grab the OTP or confirmation link, finish the test, and close the tab. The address is gone; nothing to clean up.

This is handy for a few developer and QA scenarios:

  • End-to-end signup tests in staging — generate a new address per run so tests never collide.
  • Trying out a third-party API or SaaS trial without handing over your work email.
  • Reproducing user-reported email issues (missing confirmation mails, broken reset links) with a throwaway inbox you control.
  • Previewing what a marketing onboarding drip actually looks like before wiring it up.

Because the inbox is temporary, there's no lingering account tied to your identity and nothing to unsubscribe from later. It's one small habit that keeps both your test data and your real inbox clean.
