Want to see what launched on Hacker News recently and which launches got traction? Algolia's public HN API can filter by tag, date and points.

The request

Checked 2026-11-01: this returned 57 hits; the top ones had 941, 728 and 625 points.

Each hit has title, url, points, num_comments, created_at and objectID. The discussion lives at https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=<objectID>.

Gotchas

  • URL-encode > as %3E in numericFilters; join several filters with commas.
  • url is null for text-only posts.
  • Results are ranked by relevance; use search_by_date to sort newest first.
  • Page with &page=1, 2... (default 20 per page, max 1000 hits per query).
  • Swap show_hn for ask_hn or launch_hn to look at other post types.
