Epic Games confirmed One Piece’s Straw Hat Pirates for Fortnite Battle Royale’s “Treasure Hunters” season, due November 1. The trailer also features the Going Merry and a pirate-themed Hatsune Miku.
Straw Hat crew appears in the season trailer
The trailer introduces Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji, along with Buggy the Clown, according to Anime News Network’s October 28 report. The Straw Hats’ ship, the Going Merry, also appears in the footage. Epic Games separately shared a promotional visual featuring Nico Robin and Ace, extending the list of One Piece characters tied to the season.
The trailer follows a short teaser released on Sunday that showed the Going Merry emerging through mist on a moonlit night. That earlier clip hinted at a One Piece collaboration without showing the full character lineup. The new footage gives a clearer look at the crossover, though it does not establish which characters will be available as outfits or how they will be distributed.
A pirate-themed Hatsune Miku is another character featured in the trailer. Polygon reported that the season also includes Kasane Teto, A$AP Rocky and Lil Uzi Vert. The combination places anime characters and musical performers within the same Fortnite season, but the reports do not provide a complete release schedule for each item.
Trailer points to themed island and combat items
Polygon’s report describes a new, skull-shaped island for the mini-season, with the Going Merry taking the place of Fortnite’s Battle Bus. It also notes that the island is not presented in a cel-shaded art style, despite the anime focus. These details come from the trailer and Polygon’s examination of its scenes.
The footage also offers glimpses of items and attacks drawn from One Piece. Polygon identified Luffy’s stretching arms as a sign that a Gum Gum Pistol ability will appear in the game. The trailer also shows what the outlet identified as one of Nami’s tangerines, Usopp’s slingshot and a three-sword attack associated with Zoro. Polygon described the tangerine as probably a healing item and the sword attack as likely a Mythic ability, so those specific functions were not confirmed in the report.
Fortnite’s “Treasure Hunters” season is set to begin November 1, alongside a new season of Fortnite Festival, Polygon reported. The outlets did not confirm which One Piece characters will be part of a Battle Pass, Festival Pass or Crew Pack, or sold through the Item Shop. The trailer confirms the crossover and displays several characters and themed elements, while those purchase and unlock details remain unspecified in the reports.
A growing roster of anime crossovers
The One Piece collaboration adds to Fortnite’s history of partnerships with anime franchises. Anime News Network cited Naruto Shippūden as the first Weekly Shonen Jump series to join the game, in 2021. Dragon Ball and My Hero Academia followed in 2022, while Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War and Black Clover collaborations arrived in 2025 and 2026, respectively.
Fortnite has also partnered with anime properties beyond Weekly Shonen Jump, including Attack on Titan and Cowboy Bebop, according to Anime News Network. The new season draws on One Piece’s pirate setting, using the Going Merry and recognizable crew members as its central theme. The anime’s Elbaph arc debuted in Japan on April 5 and streamed on Crunchyroll, the outlet reported, with more episodes scheduled to premiere next year.
