freeCodeCamp just turned 12 years old. And so did our beloved forum. And today I'm thrilled to say that the forum is now focused on discussions rather than Q&A.

This is thanks to Socrates, a new tool we just launched. Socrates is built right into the freeCodeCamp curriculum. It can look at your code and give you hints to help you get unstuck.

When you ask Socrates for help, first it references the thousands of hints and test cases we've human-authored for the curriculum. And if none of those cover your situation, Socrates will come up with new hints to guide you.

Here're some photos of Socrates in action:

Socrates is live now. Try it on the freeCodeCamp curriculum.

Socrates frees up the forum to serve as a place for discussions

Since most people will be getting unstuck using Socrates, we think far fewer people will need to ask for help on the forum. So we can instead use the forum as a place to talk with fellow human beings about our hobbies, passions, studies, and goals.

Over the years we've built up a super chill mod team. Folks from all over the world with a broad range of backgrounds. These knights and dames keep the vibe positive and productive, and keep out the bots and spammers.

So here's what I want you to do.

  1. Read our 85-word-long code of conduct.
  2. Sign into the freeCodeCamp forum, read some threads, reply to some threads, and start some threads of your own.

As you use the forum, we'll trust you with more and more power there. More people will come to recognize you as a chill person who brings useful insights.

If you're looking for an alternative to divisive social media, a place where people talk WITH each other rather than PAST each other, well this is it. You've hit the jackpot.

I'm spending a lot of time there and hope you'll do the same.

Shout out to all the mods for helping everybody get the most out of the limited minutes in their day. See you on the forum.
