KDE developers announced Plasma 6.9 for late February, featuring an optimized KWin zoom filter, cleaner configuration handling, and a KRunner fix for modern Firefox bookmark paths.

Speed and file improvements

In terms of performance, the desktop zoom feature gets an improved image filter that reduces computer resource consumption. At the same time, the system now automatically cleans up old data regarding file and folder locations, preventing the size of configuration files from increasing.

Changes to search and apps

Firefox browser bookmark search gains compatibility with modern installations that store their data in specific system folders, although the fix only affects classic installations and not those made through special isolation packages.

Additionally, the app store allows users to copy and share links for locally installed programs, while minor fixes are made to the full-screen web page button and timer management.

Appearance and operation corrections

In window previews, windows excluded from screen recording will no longer appear in thumbnails, and an issue that prevented window thumbnails from displaying correctly has been fixed.
