Helsinki, Finland, 2026-10-28 - myDBR.com announced PostgreSQL support in myDBR, its web-based reporting platform for SQL databases. PostgreSQL 12 or later can now hold both myDBR's own objects and the reports, alongside the MySQL, MariaDB and Microsoft SQL Server support that myDBR already has.
What is myDBR?
myDBR turns SQL into a finished reporting portal. A developer writes the report logic in the database. myDBR supplies the web interface: parameter forms, tables, charts, maps, drill-downs, scheduling, user management and export to Excel, PDF and CSV. Users need only a browser, and there is no separate report designer or proprietary query language to learn. If you can write a query, you can publish a report.
What PostgreSQL support covers
- Reports as PL/pgSQL functions. A report is a function that returns one cursor per result set. Titles, charts, tables, tabs and maps are each a result set, so one function can build a full report page.
- Simple installation. The web installer creates the role and database, and runs the creation script as a single transaction, so a failure leaves nothing half installed. myDBR can live in its own schema next to your data, which suits PostgreSQL's one-database-per-connection model.
- Row-level security. myDBR can pass the logged-in user to PostgreSQL, or run each report as that user's database role. The database itself then decides which rows a user sees, and a copied or modified report cannot show more than the user is allowed to see.
- Report timeouts and a running-reports view. Administrators can set global or per-report limits using
statement_timeoutandlock_timeout. They can also see the reports running now and cancel them. - Developer tools. The SQL Editor, query plan viewer (
EXPLAIN), data browser, query builder, synchronization between servers, Git version control and the AI report assistant all work with PostgreSQL.
Requirements
PostgreSQL 12 or later (14 or later recommended), PHP 8.0 or later with the pgsql extension, and the citext contrib extension.
Availability
PostgreSQL support is included in myDBR 7.7. Documentation, including an installation guide and a PL/pgSQL report tutorial, is available at https://www.mydbr.com/doc. To learn more and download a trial, visit the https://www.mydbr.com.
