Paru 2.2 brings Pacman 7.1 support, age-based package filtering, and multiple dependency resolution fixes to the Rust-based Arch Linux AUR helper.

New features and improvements

The most important addition is support for Pacman 7.1. At the same time, a new setting has been added to filter packages based on their release age, as well as the ability to exclude specific packages during installation, upgrade, and search.

In the sorting options, a new option organizes selection menus from bottom to top and search results from top to bottom. The search command now displays clickable links for information about packages.

Support has also been extended to custom installation file storage locations, and the option to customize core packages installed in isolated environments has also been added.

Problem fixes

The update fixes unexpected program terminations, as well as duplicate package errors. Other fixes include missing warnings during upgrades, conflict checks, and redirection issues.

Additionally, version requirements for dependent packages are now taken into account when removing unnecessary packages, and a previous separate behavior has been removed. Interactive messages are also properly terminated on read errors.

What else do you need to know?

Those who choose to build the program themselves from source code will now need version 1.88 of the Rust programming language or newer.

Finally, language updates include a new Polish translation and improvements to French, Czech, Hungarian, Korean, Portuguese, Swedish, and Ukrainian.
