PeaZip 11.4 is now available for Linux and Windows, removing automatic command shell invocation during compression and extraction.
This release introduces enhanced input filename sanitization across its scripting engine, earlier validation checks, and updates its core compression components to 7z 26.04 and Pea 1.34.
More secure file management
The most important change is that the program no longer automatically activates the computer's command environment, such as the administrative shell, when compressing or decompressing. The classic console remains available for those users who prefer it.
At the same time, the new version better checks file names in many parts of the program. These checks are now done earlier, so that the program can warn in time and prevent dangerous actions before they are executed. In addition, the developers have started checking file sizes in older compression formats that had difficulty with very large files.
New features for Windows and Linux
For Windows users, the program now allows navigating through file shortcuts directly from the built-in browser, using specific keys or path selection.
