Agencies with salon clients: the owner doesn't read reach. She reads her appointment book.

Put 4 lines on the monthly report: new clients, ad cost per new client, which post brought them, next month's test. Nothing else on top.

Full setup in the first reply.

Running Local Marketing for Salon and Spa Clients

If you run a small agency with a handful of beauty clients (a couple of nail studios, a lash bar, a salon, maybe a med spa), you know the shape of it. Each pays less than an ecommerce client. Each owner texts photos at random hours and asks why last week's post got fewer likes. Most have been burned by an agency before.

It's a good business if you run it as a system. Here's how I'd set it up.

Start from what owners already think

Assume skepticism. In salon and spa communities this year, agencies come up mostly as regrets. One clinic owner said her agency sent "a social media template every month." Another said lots of agencies were pitching her, and some admitted they barely had clients in her industry.

When owners say where new clients actually come from, it's referrals and Google reviews, again and again. So don't sell social and ads as the whole answer. Sell something narrow you can check: real content from the shop every week, a few local ads, and a monthly count of new clients they brought.

1. Content from each shop's real work

The cost isn't making posts. It's getting material out of the owner. Set up a shared album per shop, a one-page no-face shot list (hands, close-ups, tools, the front door), and a weekly ask with a number: "ten photos by Thursday." Give the owner a client consent script and a confirmation text.

And never use AI-generated work, not as filler and not as a before-and-after. In beauty the photo is the result the client books.

2. One setup per shop

Every shop gets its own Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Google Business Profile, ad account and content language. Two rules: the owner owns the accounts and you're added as partner; the owner pays Meta or TikTok directly, so there's never a question about markup on spend.

Local targeting per shop: in Meta, a radius of a few miles around the address. TikTok goes to zip codes, not a radius.

3. The report

Four lines on page one:

  • New clients (or new bookings) this month
  • Ad cost per new client
  • Which post or ad brought the most
  • Two or three tests for next month

Agree in month one how you count "new from ads." A lead form in the ad plus "how did you hear about us?" at check-in is the cleanest. And don't send ads straight to a booking page. One esthetician got 800+ booking-page views from Facebook ads in three days and zero bookings.

4. Price from your own cost math

There's no standard rate. Work it out. Hypothetically: 4 hours a month of your time, 8 short videos, 4 connected accounts. In AutoWhisper that's 8 × 52 credits plus 80 credits per connected social or ad account per month, converted at your plan's rate. Ad spend isn't your cost.

Then ask what a new client is worth to the owner. If (as an example) a visit is $70 and a regular comes six times a year, a client who sticks is worth several hundred dollars a year. Your fee plus their ad spend has to be clearly less than the new clients you can realistically bring. If that only works at a fee below your hours, offer content-only or ads-only instead.

The traps

  • Owners don't trust agencies: offer a 60 or 90-day trial with the success measure in writing.
  • Budgets are tiny: tight radius, one or two ads, an add-on with an end date instead of a discount.
  • Nobody wants to be on camera: build around hands, process, results and the room.
  • Med spa ads get rejected: Meta's policies are strict on before-and-afters and on pointing out body flaws.
  • Slow season is cancellation season: have recall content and paused ads ready four weeks early.

Where we come in

AutoWhisper handles the content part. One account can hold as many workspaces as you need, one per shop, each with its own photos, social accounts, ad account and content language. You upload each shop's real photos and it cuts them into short videos without generating work photos. Ads are created paused in the shop's own ad account. You or the owner set the radius in Ads Manager and press start. For approvals, send the owner each piece's share-page link.
