The first voice chat app I used with friends was Roger Wilco back in 1999. We later moved to TeamSpeak, Ventrilo and Mumble. I loved how simple and self-hostable they were. Then Discord came along...

With Moin, we wanted to bring some of that simplicity back. We focus on two things: low-latency voice chat and smooth 60 fps screen sharing. A modern take on the classics.

There is no account, no ads, no trackers or any sign-up. Open Moin, start your own Space (a server running locally inside the app), and invite friends with a link. For something more permanent, you can self-host a Community server or let us host it.

The UI is Flutter, while everything else is Rust, built using iroh and Media over QUIC. Everything is end-to-end encrypted, including screen sharing through an SFU, which only sees encrypted data.
