We're excited to announce the release of ValiNum v2.2.0, a major update to our lightweight JavaScript and TypeScript library for validating and formatting phone numbers in African countries.
ValiNum takes the guesswork out of phone number validation. Instead of hard-coding prefixes like "82 is Vodacom", you pass the user input and ValiNum detects the country, operator, line type, and returns the number in national, international, and E.164 formats.
This release adds support for 10 new countries: Angola, Gabon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Zambia, and Burkina Faso. Each comes with a dedicated validator and up-to-date mobile and fixed-line ranges, including full-number patterns for fixed lines.
Beyond the new countries, v2.2.0 brings CDN support (jsDelivr and unpkg), fixes Node.js imports so both import and require work, resolves TypeScript types under node16/nodenext, and rewrites DOCUMENTATION.md as a complete course from Chapter 0 to 18.
Whether you're building a signup form, a CRM, or a fintech app, ValiNum saves you from maintaining fragile prefix lists. Check out the release on GitHub: https://github.com/fomadev/valinum
