Today we're releasing NFS-Refresh Path.exists(), a helper designed to address a specific behavior with Network File System (NFS) mounts.
When a file is created on an NFS mount, the client's cache may not update immediately. This can lead to a path.exists() check returning false shortly after a file has been written, even though the file is present on the server. This false negative can disrupt workflows that depend on immediate file visibility, such as build processes or automated deployments.
NFS-Refresh Path.exists() works by forcing a cache refresh on the NFS mount point before executing the file existence check. This ensures that the client's view of the filesystem is current, preventing situations where recently created files are not found due to stale cache data. It's built for environments where timely and accurate file existence checks on NFS are critical.
This tool is for developers and system administrators who encounter race conditions or unexpected file not found errors on NFS shares immediately following file creation. It provides a more robust way to confirm file presence in such scenarios.
