Kitty 0.50 arrives with dockable windows, automatic session restoration, and Wayland touchscreen support.
The release also patches a remote-control auth bypass and memory-safety issues including heap overflow, out-of-bounds write, and use-after-free.
New features and window organization
The update brings the ability to link windows together, as well as automatic restoration of open tabs and windows when the user logs back in. This restoration relies on special system tools for Linux users, while on Mac it uses encryption from the operating system itself.
Additionally, the ability to sort tabs alphabetically has been added, as well as support for touchscreens on Linux computers, allowing navigation with gestures such as tap-to-click and scrolling. For those who wish, there are now three new visual effects that follow the movement of the cursor.
Pictures and programming updates
The new version adds two new image formats that automatically adapt to the colors used by the terminal, as well as support for displaying the status of applications directly in the tab bar.
Fix security issues
In addition to the new features, the update fixes a critical issue that allowed authentication to be bypassed when remotely controlling the application. It also addresses several internal memory management issues that could cause crashes.
