Node.js and Express are widely used to build the backend layer that connects your mobile or web application with databases, authentication, APIs and business logic.
For example, in an e-commerce app:
Flutter App → Express API → Node.js Backend → Database
A request like POST /api/orders can validate the user, check product availability, create the order and return the result to the app.
The important part isn’t just creating API endpoints. Good backend engineering means keeping business logic organized, validating data, handling errors, securing endpoints and designing the API so the application can scale.
That’s how I approach Node.js/Express projects: the backend should be reliable, maintainable and easy for the frontend to work with.
If you’re building a mobile or web application, don’t treat the backend as an afterthought. Build the foundation properly from the start.
