tvOS 27.2 can be downloaded using the Settings app on the Apple TV. Open up Settings and go to System > Software Update to get the new software. Apple TV owners who have automatic software updates activated will be upgraded to tvOS 27.2 automatically.
Today's update adds support for four-speaker surround sound, a feature that works with the HomePod, HomePod mini 2, and the upcoming Apple TV 4K.
It allows the Apple TV 4K to be used with four HomePod mini 2 speakers, four second-generation HomePods, or two HomePods and two HomePod mini 2 speakers to get surround sound.
The HomePod mini 2 launches on October 30, while the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K will come out on November 13.
